Click here to visit the gallery. If you want to upload your own digital photos, you need to register a user name. Click Register on the menu at the top of the gallery. Fill in the details using the same user name and password as for the SussexIDEAS forum. You will be sent an activation email.

To display your images in the photo gallery

You can upload several photos for a single property, including sitenotes. Resize and convert existing photos if necessary (see below). Upload your photos (see below). Email the if you have any questions.

How to upload your images

Pictures should be in JPEG format. They should have a width of 1024 pixels or less (see below). Rename each image as follows:

date, town (include a nearby larger town if the location is relatively unknown)
example: 1947BalcombeHaywards Heath1.jpg, 1947BalcombeHaywards Heath2.jpg

Click on Upload File in the gallery menu and follow the instructions.

Add a description of the house, which could include some or all of the following:

evidence of date, wall construction, other important features, extensions and date, problems solved, points of interest, lessons learned, removing recommendations, etc.
example:
Title register shows transfer to council in 1947; enquiries of neighbours
Cavity walls (stretcher bond, wall thinckness)
Single storey flat-roof extension added 1998 (as built cavity)
South West facing walls sheltered, so no need to remove recommendation for cavity wall insulation

How to resize and convert your images

If you do not know how to modify your pictures, download the excellent image and video viewer Irfanview from here. It's free. Open the image you wish to resize. Click the Image menu at the top of the screen and choose Resize/Resample. Enter width 640 under the New Size heading (don't exceed 1024). Click OK.

IMPORTANT: Save your resized image with a NEW name (see above). Make sure you save it as a JPEG file (Click Save As, then choose JPG-JPEG from the Save As Type drop down menu).
